B. Gospel Sharing:
1. Fritz – Inspired by WSM, he gave his workers two hours off so they can hear Mass and receive the ashes. To be able to explain the importance of Ash Wednesday, he studied it. Fritz has come to realize that when we reach out, we enrich ourselves. He is the first to feel enriched having learned thru his study, i.e the ashes as a sign of repentance. All of these things comes back to us in one way or another.
2. Oscar – his struck is in the first reading with Gen 8:8-15 ” I promise that never again will a flood destroy the earth.” When we punish people, sometimes we regret. Sa atin, kung minsan, nasosobrahan ang galit. Although people who wrong us are sinners, we ourselves do not like so much suffering.
Another struck is in the Second reading 1 Peter 3:18-22 ” a good man died in order to lead you to God.” We can be instruments of others thru sacrifice. We really have a big role to play.
3. Sabsy – struck is in the word “covenant.” How seriously are we taking our covenant with God. How willing are we to let Him fulfill what He wants to do – to be our friend, lift us up and make us happy.
4. Paz – Jesus, in the greatness of His love, saved us, even if we are unworthy. We need Him for we cannot save ourselves. I feel so privileged as He died for me. I only need to accept His sacrifice. I have sinned a lot and He paid for my sins.
5. Mai – “turn away from your sins”. Start of the Lenten season reminds us to repent, do almsgiving, pray. It seems I am starting all over again. This is the time na talaga sana. May I come to embrace that this Lent is the time of salvation? Be conscious in attending to the habits or attitudes we want to change. do self-denial. Understand that fasting means don’t eat so the food we are about to eat so we can give it to the poor.
6. Nimfa – struck is on repentance and time of fulfillment. Repentance is a change of heart, of lifestyle. It is not just seeking forgiveness.
I join many clubs. Matagal na kami sa community and in renewal charismatic work. My heart is in LSS – asking the Holy Spirit to move us into almsgiving and helping the poor. When we started to reach out, it became more fulfilling. Last year, we gave 1000 families in Bulacan victims of floods. This year, maraming disasters so we have to mobilize once again.
Since Dom started attending the WSM, we started Word Sharing in the workplace. We started in the beauty parlor as I have 20 persons. It is very inspiring to hear their sharing. They have agreed to join the Serviam community. They are now inviting their families.
Now I like to reach out to people to people within and outside of the workplace, i.e. poor of the poorest in Calauan in Laguna. 109 hectares is available for 22k people. We conducted, for 150 families, a medical mission, seminars for teenagers on early pregnancy, haircutting. We also gave them rice and good lunch. We recognize the need for livelihood so they don’t return to Manila to be squatters.
My repentance is to serve the poor. I set up a bank account for the poor. So I don’t have to worry anymore if I need to help the poor.
7. Dom – struck is ” I shall establish a covenant with you.” God never goes back on His Word. He may exercise ” permissive will” to teach us a lesson. The Lord does not want us to be poor, sickly, etc. But it is us who make wrong choices.
God loves us; He came to save us. Dom even read that the Second Coming is delayed because God wants all of us to be saved. This is the time of fulfillment. Dom was impressed with what he saw in San Jose Kitchen Cabinets. He instituted a shared burden concept for the Bible Reading session. The employees come 30 mins. earlier and Dom extends company time. One time, Dom was delayed but the employees started with the word Sharing. Even his own children were sharing. The company officers and employees share on how God rescues us and has touched our lives.
Dom set the rule of “no preaching”.
Dom happy that the bibles he gave away were still there though some have not been touched and are still new.
Nothing is impossible basta you wish to share the Lord.
What new WSM things we did in our companies:
1. Oscar – printed copies of the fruits of the Holy Spirit as well as the 7 capital sins to the employees. There was a realization that sins are not easy to remove, esp pride.
Oscar become serious with his faith in 1980. He read a book and that was a moment of awakening to the faith for him. That is why he considers February as his spiritual birthday. It took him 14 years. Priest said ‘just keep on praying about it.” He started the faith sharing session in his company thru the group recital of the rosary.
2. Dom – dati “pag hindi ako nagalit, kulang ang araw ko” Ngayon reverse. Also, he will invite preachers to talk to his employees. He admitted that he has been teaching them how to be better employees but left out the spirituality side.
3. Nimfa – ME attendance taught us how to listen.
4. Sabsy – devoted company time and resources to train high school graduate household helper. After two weeks, she became computer literate, would do expense and income tracking on excel, do the IMovie portion of a video, scan letters, etc.
As the BBC (Bishops-Businessmen’s conference) Chair for ISQ (Institutional Spirituality Quotient) Workplace Spirituality Committee, Sabsy, together with BBC Co-Chair Ito Carlos and Vice-Co-Chair Christian Monsod, have been working towards a definition and promotion of “responsible mining” to input it to the study group of P’noy.
Also, sponsored three home-based assistants to the Singles Encounter weekend.
5. Fritz – he continues to nurture the Word Sharing group in his company. But he realizes he was to go slow and cannot do hard sell. He followed Oscar’s suggestion and assigned a prayer leader. Last week, for the first time, one employee shared. Even with his children, he now talks about “repetitive prayer.”
6. Paz – She goes to work as early as 6am and she prays. Then an employees joined her. Then, the group grew and they did Bible Study. Now, in the company, there are prayer cells (smaller group). Paz is a member of the Alabang New Life under Pastor Chase.
7. Mai – She emphasized the need to pray to God. There is a western mindset of not to talk about God in business, especially if the company has foreign partners. For example, greeting each other ” Happy holidays” instead of Merry Christmas”.
D. Other Matters
1. Everyone is enjoined to share their faith experience in the WSM website which is inside the San Jose Kitchen Cabinet website.
2. Tess Ganzon is inviting WSM members to attend a focolare session on economy of communion.
3. Dom and Nimfa were commended for preparing songs for the Bible Sharing portion. Singing to the Lord, especially from the heart, is a good worship. The group agreed to try varied ways to make the Bible Sharing and Worship more meaningful.
4. Sabsy reiterated her request for the attendees to consider being members of the BBC. Application forms have been distributed. Punongbayan and Araullo is already a member.
E. Paz Malubay was requested to be the prayer leader for the meeting on March 22, Thursday, also at 3pm.
