Faith or Spirituality – Translated to Social Programs (FS-TSP Movement)
Background:
This group was founded sometime 2010 with two other friends. One of them is Ben Teehankee, an associate professor at De La Salle University, whose social programs are the promotion of corporate social responsibility and good governance in business based on Catholic Social Principles. My social program is the study and promotion of profit sharing in business.
Membership:
by individual
What is FS-TSP Movement:
It is an organization of businessmen, professionals and laymen who are renewed, spiritually awakened, committed to their faith in God and who have done something concrete to translate their faith into social programs.
Examples:
A person’s faith or spirituality translated to social programs like:
- Poverty housing: Habitat for Humanities and Gawad Kalinga.
- Education program for the children in the depressed area.
- Promotion of corporate social responsibility and good governance.
- Promotion of positive social values to the general public.
- Study and promotion of social justice in a company setting, such as profit sharing.
Objectives: (As we belong to one mystical body of Christ)
- To support and learn from each other
- Friendship among those who would like to serve the Lord.
- To grow in faith and spirituality.
- The Lord might have something in mind for us to do a group.
Initial Program of activity
- Sacred Scripture study once a month and simple fellowship.
- Presentation of each member’s social programs. (20 minutes and one presentor only per meeting)
Who are we looking for?
- He who realize the important virtue of humility and had somehow been working and praying for it for sometime.
- He who have decided to follow the will of the Lord, which means he is a renewed person.
- But he is not a recent convert. He has been on spiritual journey for at least several years.
- And because of his commitment to follow the will of the Lord, his faith move him into doing some concrete social programs which at the end of the day are contributory to Evangelization. The key element here is: His faith moves him into social programs.
Other thoughts for this informal group:
- This group can make a difference if we stick to the four criteria for membership
- We should be conscious of the fact that we are not creating an elite group, that is why the virtue of humility is the first of our criteria.
- Let’s join this group of the Lord’s servants only if we have a positive discernment about it.
